Believe it or not, being in debt isn't just your business. These days everyone knows your financial situation, and if they don't, they can find it out. If you are in debt your biggest problem is with the bank. They do not trust that you will stay out of debt or pay back their loans, and will therefore not give you loans or maybe not let you open an account with them at all. Once you prove to be unable to pay off debt your name appears on a list that the bank has, and it stays there- for a long time.
